Fun Activities To Celebrate Twos-Day
Tomorrow will be the 22nd of February 2022 or for short 22/2/22 which also happens to be on a Tuesday. So many twos! And a rare date to never be seen again.
Will you be able to fit in some fun activities during the day? Make it memorable for your students and celebrate the significance of the day.
With your class try these easy, minimal preparation activities;
discussing or drawing or writing what the students will be doing at the age of 22. I did this for my 30th birthday with my Kindy class and the answers were classic
invite students to wear a tutu for the day
write what they wish they had 22 of - create a class book
read books about doubles or pairs e.g. Two of Everything by Lily Toy Hong or Double Play by Betsy Franco
write word problems involving just the number two
practice counting by doubles, see how high you can go with your class
discuss and teach palindromes
complete number-based activities around the number two with the lower grades
create an eye spy or match the pairs activity on paper or using a bunch of picture cards or materials. I use cards when I want my class to work with a random partner. I distribute cards to each student and they must find their partner e.g. toothbrush and toothpaste, socks and shoes etc.
do a language lesson on to, too and two
have money discussions - if you had $22 what would you spend it on, if you had $222 what would you spend it on, what about $2222?
incorporate sport - do 22 push-ups, 22 star jumps, 22 squats, 22 sit ups, 22 windmills….
who can guess how long 22 seconds is, who can guess how long 2 mins is? Set your timer. Students close their eyes than stand up when they think it is near the time. Students who stand up closest to the time of 22 seconds wins
have a twos scavenger hunt in the classroom - fun until they have to return everything to where they got it from
have students bring in a photo of when they were two. Have a guessing competition of who is who
