All Types Of Travellers

You will find that people travel for all different reasons and purposes. My holidays are a mix of travelling with a budget in mind, some adrenalin activities to push myself out of my comfort zone, abit of culture and I especially love to catch sunrise and sunset each day. Which category do you fall into?

There are eight different types of travellers;

Adrenalin Junkers - these are the types that enjoy a holiday chasing a thrill and a high. They will book a three-day overnight hike, climb a glacier, or plan activities like jumping out of a plane, taking a 4x4 through the jungle, battling the rapids, white water rafting. They are the active types who live off the adrenalin activities provide. Think New Zealand.

Guidebook Gurus - these travellers are easily identifiable as you will find them sitting at a coffee shop reading up on the Lonely Planet Guide or referring to it often when at attractions to provide more background information. They have everything planned out in advance and stick to their itinerary. They are interested in the place they are going to and wanting to learn as much as they can.

Luxury Travellers - these people have their annual holiday, usually planned well in advance. They spend a fortune on the best of everything. The best food, the best accommodation. They drink cocktails and spare no expense while away. They visit the spa and have their daily massage.

Budget Backpacking - everything these travellers need is on their back. They travel cheap, stay in hostels, take public transport or go by food. They buy street food and live off bananas. They prefer to minimise their impact on the environment. You will notice them by their hiking boots usually hanging off their bags.

Party Animals - you will find these travellers dancing and drinking the night away and sleeping all the next day. They are making memories and sharing it all on social media. They have not come to explore but instead for the social scene. They easily make friends. They do crazy things like fill spas with shampoo, go skinny dipping in the ocean, and get on a bike drunk. Think of places such as Ibiza, Bali, or Sail-Week in Croatia. The ones you think, ‘how are they still alive?’.

Culture Vultures - these type like to check out the museums, the architecture, and the galleries the city has to offer. They will participate in Buddhist meditations, or follow the footsteps of some great explorer. They love exploring ancient sites or local markets. They enjoy local customs and having an authentic experience in the destination. Think Egypt, China, Japan or Morocco.

All-Inclusive Travellers - these are the types who prefer someone to take care of everything for them. They look for a package deal that includes meals, accommodation, and entertainment. The ones who prefer to sit pretty in a resort and don’t have to use any brain power while away on holidays.

Outdoor Enthusiast - these travellers you will often find up early catching the sunrise. They love hiking, surfing and swimming. They like to be amongst nature. You will spot them in their North Face or Kathmandu attire.

It does not matter what type of traveller you may be. There is no right or wrong way to travel. As long as you are enjoying yourself, that is the main thing.
