If you are like me, then you get to the airport three hours early in the case of any delays and therefore have plenty of time before taking flight. Consider how to use your time wisely. You could make a start on the book you brought, update your travel journal, edit your photos or log on to the airport wifi. Guessing the majority of you went with the wifi option. So how do you make the most of the wifi when you have limited time…

• Have your messages already typed and ready to go if you are using the Messenger App, What’s App or iMessage. That way once you connect to wifi the messages go straight through automatically.

• Draft any emails you need to send in your downtime, so once you are connected all you need to do is reread and click send.

• Make a to-do list of things you need to use the Internet for. Prioritise the list. Then when you have wifi, start with the first thing and work your way through your list. Don’t get distracted and waste precious minutes or MB mindlessly scrolling through social media.

• Have your photos edited and in folders or ‘favourited’ so you have quick access to the ones you want to send to family and friends or upload to Facebook

• Whilst travelling record videos using the stories feature of the Instagram app. They will upload directly to your stories once you are connected to wifi.

These days you will find it difficult to come across an airport without wifi however there are always conditions. These are airports I have flown through recently.

• Doha airport (Hamad International) in Qatar offers free wifi to those flying on Qatar airlines only. Too bad if you are travelling Oman Air. Enter your Qatar booking reference and wifi is all yours.

• Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, India will send a code to your phone. Not point trying if your phone is on aeroplane mode.

• Muscat International Airport in Oman is the same. They want to send an SMS to your phone with a password. Not helpful for those with no phone access.

• Cancun International Airport in Mexico gives you half an hour access to the internet with Google.

• Sydney Airport in Australia gives unlimited wifi usage. Its quick too

• Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport in Iran allows one hour of free wifi or 1MB whichever goes faster.

• San Francisco International Airport gives you unlimited use of their wifi. This came in very handy when I recently had a ten-hour stopover.

• Los Angeles International Airport allows unlimited 45-minute sessions. Reconnecting is a tad annoying but hey it’s free.

• Abu Dhabi International Airport offers free unlimited wireless internet.

• For wifi at Singapore Changi Airport, you must visit a kiosk and present your passport to receive a number.
