April 2023 In Hindsight

Early April, saw daylight saving click over. We got the extra hour, winded our clocks back and I loved it. I achieved so much in that day.

If you follow my Insta stories you would have seen I was back in South Australia. I convinced my bf to join me on a road trip around the Eyre Peninsula during the school holidays. It was interesting. Not so pretty or ‘wow’ moments as I would have liked but glad to say I can tick that off my bucket list. The towns are tiny and not especially alot to do, which can make it to the perfect holiday in one sense. But for me, who is looking for little more adventure; it was a bit of a humbug. It was the water I went for really, the turquiose clear water I wanted to see again but was so bummed when we got there and it was just a tad cold. You could put your feet in for a hot minute or so before they turned numb but definitely not warm enough to take a dip. I got it completely wrong, and though this time of year would still be okay. Obviously not. So that sorta sucked.

Listening to -

* Serial Productions - The Coldest Case in Laramie - binged listened over two days. Always love a Serial Production. This wasn’t their best one, but still good to get my fix.

* The Lively Show - really getting into the Beauty of Life series and can really relate to the two girls life experiences and bean bags.

 Read -

* Prettier if She Smiled More by Toni Jordan - received this as a pre-release, and I loved it. I am ready to gift it to someone, let me know if you are keen to read it

* Hideaway by Nora Roberts - feel like I’ve read this one before, strong plot line with good characters

* Meditation and Dreamwork - Tara Ward - thick, fat one that took me forever to read but took alot from it

Splurged on -

* nice accommodation in South Australia

Watching -

* The Three Birds Renovation - House 15 - always dreaming of getting our renos done

* Seeking Fire - SBS documentary which examines people's relationship with money and how financial independence can fuel passion

* Grand Designs - wait all weekend for it to come on. Great Sunday night viewing

Went to -

* friends place for morning tea and turned into five hours later

* Easter Sunday with my family for a quick visit then late lunch with my bfs family

* Log Cabin at Penrith - recently renovated. Nice over the water. Had an espresso martini but swore there was no alcohol in it - I didn’t even get tipsy

* Lola Cocina at Parramatta with my bff - Spanish restuarant we have been before and hasn’t disappointed yet

* Babydoll Bakery at Cranebrook - cute place, yet small portion size for breakfast and make crappy coffee but they do sell delicious baked sweets. Go for the sweets

Booked -

* a sauna for before and after our holiday

Cooked -

* apple crumble cake for Easter, chocolate cake, gluten free vegan chocolate brownies - new recipe

* zucchini slice, prawn pasta, toasted banana sandwiches

What's new -

* house reno - four day Easter weekend meant I cracked the whip and shit went down - I pulled up the carpet in the main bedroom while my boyfriend fixed the downlights that had stopped working, fixed the dishwasher, patched and plastered, fixed the water leak upstairs, sealed around the chimney, took all metal and tv antenna off the chimney. Organised the estimator to come out and we got a quote for flooring however my boyfriend has changed his mind again; fourth time lucky; back to having carpet in the bedrooms and he is going to tile the kitchen/dining area. So when he makes his final decision who knows; I am not holding my breath. The bedroom is colder with no carpet so hopefully it is before winter kicks in good. Edged the front path and cleared up more crap outside I had been piling up and put it out for council cleanup

* blog - been working on my blog behind the scenes which has been fun. Just have to set more time aside to write more

* borrowed at least 20 books from the library on autism spectrum disorder and special needs so had to smash through them to be returned within the month.

* had big spring clean in autumn - cleaned out my wardrobe, cleaned out paper clutter, cleaned out who I follow on Instagram - feels good

* my chain of hearts plant that I thought had died so put it outside, has come alive with a vengeance and has huge hearts. Think I will leave it outside rather than bring it back in

* they have capped hotmail at 5GB now so I had the warning that I managed to ignored for a month or more until I no longer could receive or send any emails. Had to frantically delete GBs of emails

* volunteered at the Hawkesbury Show again this year on the weekend. Stood for four hours in the steady rain scanning tickets as people entered. I was stiff, sore and miserable. I hate to fake a smile hard.

 Looking for -

* somewhere to go in the next school holidays - somewhere warm, possibly overseas?

 Sold -

* maths problem solving book, game boy games, oyster light

Started -

* the term off well back at school. Getting organised and being realistic - its going to be a busy one

Attempting to -

* use my time constructively. I get great pleasure from getting things done so feeding off that

Are you a fan of daylight saving? I don’t mind the darker nights. Forces my bf to come home earlier from work rather than staying there all night. Would you change anything looking back in hindsight? Feel free to join the conversation and leave a comment below.
