Be Kind To Animals Week

Be Kind To Animals Week is coming up on October 1 - 7. This week aims to inspire people to reflect on their daily lifestyle choices, and how simple changes and acts of kindness can create a better world for animals of all species.

What a great idea. So how about putting some time aside to consider your personal choices and how you can make simple changes. Maybe you could…

  • Use products that don’t include animal products or test on them. Some brands include Raww, b.tan, ECO Minerals, Inika Organics, Lust and Happy Skincare.

  • Swap your beef burger patties to plant based ones. They are just as yum. My boyfriend doesn’t even notice the difference.

  • If you like dessert each night, why not try out the dairy free ice-creams.

  • Swap out your cow milk for other milks such as oat, soy or almond. We have in our household. My body loves me for it.

  • Plant a native tree to attract bees and local wildlife.

  • Visit a vegan hairdresser. Don’t believe there a thing? Check out Tribe Society which is an ethical salon in Port Adelaide.

  • If buying eggs go for the cage free ones. Yes, they are more expensive but think about the chickens next time you are buying your carton of eggs.

  • If you are looking for a new pet for your family, search first at the animal shelter for one to adopt rather than buying from a breeder. We recently lost one of our dogs and so our little one is lonely and lost by himself. We have had the discussion recently whether we should buy another as a companion for him. If we do decide to get one, it will be a rescue dog for sure.

There are many great resources on the Be Kind To Animals Week website including virtual story time, fun animal facts, infographics, and lunch box ideas.

What are you doing to implement a change in your life regarding your choices around animals? We would love it if you joined the conversation and left a comment below.
