Christmas Related Texts

There are so many fun and entertaining Christmas books out there. My book collection is getting larger every year. It is so much fun to read Christmas related books to your class to really get into the Christmas spirit, aside from decorating the classroom, playing Christmas carols and decorating your class Christmas tree.

I have compiled a list of suggested texts for teachers of picture books to share with your students in the lead up to Christmas. Don’t feel you must purchase the books. Borrowing from the library is just as good and you don’t have to find somewhere to store them which is a bonus.

Try;

  • Christmas Wombat by Jackie French & Bruce Whatley

  • Merry Christmas Splat by Rob Scotton

  • What Do You Wish For? by Jane Goodwin & Anna Walker

  • Pig The Elf by Aaron Blabey

  • The Day Rudolph’s Nose Turned Blue by Alison and Alan Reynolds

  • Macca’s Christmas Crackers by Matt Cosgrove

  • Dear Santa by Elise Hartley & Shannon Horsfall

  • Dear Santa, Love Floss by Natalie Italiano

  • Wombat Divine by Mem Fox

  • Aussie Jingle Bells by Colin Buchanan & Nick Bland

  • Oscar The Hungry Unicorn Eats Christmas by Lou Carter & Nikki Dyson

  • Santa’s Aussie Holiday by Maria Farrer & Anna Walker

  • The Nativity Illustrated by Julie Vivas

  • Just Right For Christmas by Birdie Black and Rosalind Beardshaw

Can you suggest other texts to add to our list? Feel free to comment below. Thanks in advance!
