How To Look More Important Than You Are

At school, there are all walks of life. Some teachers dress for style, others comfort. Those who put effort into what they look like and then those who are happy to wear jeans and joggers everyday.

I like to dress with pride and take care in what I choose to wear to school each day. Even if I am only a classroom teacher. I like to look more important than I am. Why not?

My top tips for dressing to look more important than you are;

For the ladies -

• wear heels. The ones that tap as you walk and make noise so people know you are coming are even better

• add blazers to your wardrobe

• wear your name badge every day

• never walk anywhere empty handed. Walk with your ipad, notebook, or diary… with you at all times. Not so you are laden and struggling. Carry it close to your chest like you are hugging it to you

• make an effort with your hair

• wear business like skirts

• never wear singlets or show much skin. Dress sophisticated and with class. You don’t have to spend a lot of money on clothes!

• wear black - a lot of it

• walk with a smile. Greet people you pass

• walk with with confidence

Men should;

• wear those shoes that need polishing

• wear a tie and formal button shirt

• wear a belt on your pants

• wear your name badge

• cover any tattoos you may have

• spend money on a quality watch and sunglasses

• use a leather bag for your laptop

• answer phone calls in meetings. excuse yourself and go and talk outside

• only be a minute early to meetings. Do not get there more than five minutes before it starts
