On The Streets of San Francisco

My sister and I travelled to San Francisco for a few days as a stopover on our way to Canada. We loved San Francisco and stayed near the famous smelly Fisherman’s Wharf, an easy walk to Pier 39 and the sea lions and where you have to try the famous Clam Chowder.

There is so much to see and fill your days with, in San Fransisco. It is worth taking a cable car ride and checking out Lombard Street; the most crooked street in the world, with eight hairpin turns. You could hire a car just to drive down it, as so many others do.

You can take a ferry ride over to Alcatraz Penitentiary if that’s your thing, or check out Chinatown for some great eateries. Sunset is a great time to see the most photographed location in San Francisco, the Painted Ladies, homes built in the Victorian and Edwardian style. You might also remember them from the TV series Full House if you are as old as me.

We took the Hop-On, Hop-Off bus around town which included at least 20 stops. We travelled in the open top bus, across the Golden Gate Bridge, with the hectic winds blowing in our hair. You must hold on, as it can get pretty windy! Then we walked across and back again on the 2.7km bridge. If you have time you can also visit the Golden Gate Park.

It is a fun city. High vibes, great people and an awesome place to see if you have a few days.
