Once In A Lifetime Flights To Take

If you have the opportunity to take a flight whether its in a helicopter, a hot air balloon ride or a small aircraft, I highly recommend you do.

Yes, they can be costly, but the view is so worth it. Such beauty, that you can only experience from the sky. These flights are something you have to splurge on at least once in your lifetime.

I have been fortunate in my travels to take some incredible flights around the world. To sit in the front seat, to be in awe and to be speechless. I have such great memories, many with my younger sister and travel buddy, including holding her hand so tight as we raced and dipped over the Glazier in New Zealand driven by an aggressive ex-army pilot.

Flights I can recommend you do at least once in your life;

  • Helicopter flight over New York city - choose from tours that that lasts 15, 20, or 30 minutes. See attractions such as the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Greenwich Village, South Street Seaport and the Brooklyn Bridge

  • Helicopter flight over The Great Barrier Reef, Australia - options to leave from Cairns or Port Douglas. We took the boat out and back and once out at the Reef we took our flight from there for approximately 20 minutes.

  • Helicopter flight over The 12 Apostles , Australia – we did the London Bridge flight, cost $145 but you may be lucky to get upgraded if there is a spare seat in the longer and bigger flight (my sister did)

  • Helicopter flight over Uluru and Kata Tjuta, Australia - approximately 25 minutes - brilliant way to see it

  • Helicopter flight over Franz Joseph Glacier, New Zealand - then get dropped up there and hike your way down. Lots of fun.

  • Scenic flight over Kakadu National Park, Australia - my sister and I did the 60 min scenic flight where you see waterfalls, wildlife and follow the East Alligator River. Best part is that everyone gets a window seat.

  • Scenic flight over the Blue Hole, Belize - The Blue Hole is a giant underwater sinkhole in the middle of Lighthouse Reef. I don’t believe in regrets but if I did I regret not taking the flight when visiting Caye Caulker. I will if I ever get back there.

  • Hot Air Balloon Ride over Alice Springs, Australia - my sister and I rose really early to see the most spectacular sunrise over the Outback.

  • Hot Air Balloon Ride in Luxor, Egypt - see Karnak and Luxor Temples, we then matched it with a donkey ride which was the most hilarious experience I have ever had in my life.

  • Hot Air Balloon Ride in Bagan, Myanmar - check out over 2,200 temples and pagodas. We missed the balloon season by one week.

  • Hot Air Balloon Ride in Cappadocia, Turkey - I’m sure you have seen the epic photos. I haven’t done it yet but its on my list.

Whilst I mostly don’t enjoy flying, I couldn’t travel or see the amazing things that I have. I am constantly pushing myself out of my comfort zone and the rewards are incredible. These birds eye view memories will stay with me forever.

Have you been anywhere incredible on a flight during your travels around the world? We would love it if you joined the conversation and shared in the comments below.
