Photo Editing Apps

Whilst we would all like to think we have great memory’s, it is not possible to remember everything about our holidays and trips we make. I will be the first to agree. After travelling to 82 countries, I only remember bits, my mind is constantly searching to make connections to places, cities or countries and trying to recall what happened, when, where.

But one thing that does trigger my memory is my photos, my endless photos and videos on my phone or my big DSLR camera.

And we all want our photos to be great, first for our memory sake and secondly, so we can share with others.

There are many great editing apps out there for free. These are the ones that I use and can recommend;

  • PicTapGo - allows you to add filters on your photos

  • VSCO - use their filters to edit your photos and then share them through the app for others to see. There is a free VSCO membership which I have with ten free presets or you can sign up and pay for membership which gives you access to 200+ presets

  • Unfold - great if you connect your Instagram and you can create stories by adding words, filters and then add to your social media account. This is the main one I will use for my Insta stories

  • Made - I just use the free trial and use their filters nad different templates for my social media accounts

  • ColorStory - use colourfully crafted filters for one-tap editing, add move and rotate effects that blend with your photo, and use 20+ tools to fine-tune adjustments before sharing

  • Snapseed - a great app with lots of things to play around with as well as different filters to change the look of your photos

  • Pic Collage - able’s you to create a grid of your photos to share on social media or even create cards to print using your photos. I love using this app for birthdays or special memories

  • Carbon - awesome app for when you want to edit your colour photos and create black and white images. It allows editing using photo textures to get the perfect photo effect

  • Adobe Lightroom Photo Editor - easy to use image editing tools like sliders and filters. Retouch photos, crop and rotate and add filters to edit your photos

Good apps to create or edit videos of your time away;

  • iMovie - use your videos to compile and create your own movie

  • 1SE - 1-second every day. This is a paid app but worth the money to create a memory of every day for a year

  • Lapse - turn your best moments into stories. It aligns your photos into a memorable video that you can then share with the world

  • Splice - select photos, videos and music to create a ‘project’

  • Quik - is an app for your GoPro but I use it without even owning one. I just use my own photos on my phone to create a ‘story’. The app also can create its own stories called ‘flashbacks’ based on your collection of photos

  • Clips - record your own little video of yourself speaking or doing something

To share your photos with others use there are options to;

  • PhotoCircle - join a friends album or start a new one. This is great for travelling and sharing photos with other people on the tour

  • 500px - follow people, share your photos and you can edit them first

  • 23snaps - share your photos, videos and stories privately with family or friends

  • FamilyAlbum - share your baby photos and videos. Great for first-time mums and dads who love to take and share photos and milestones with family
