Discover Adventure In Soca Valley, Slovenia

I believe the Soca Valley in Slovenia is one of Europe’s hidden gems.

I was fortunate to attend a yoga retreat hosted by AdZENtures back in 2017. I spent the week in Bovec (pronounced Bovits) a simply breathtaking part of the world. Surrounded by the mountains of the Julian Alps and the charming Bovec village, this is the place to be if you're looking for that adventure or adrenaline fix. A great spot for adventure seekers and nature lovers alike, there's something for everyone in Soca Valley.

Arriving in Style

Begin your journey by flying into Venice, Italy, where the adventure truly begins. From there, hop on a van ride that takes you across the border into Slovenia, immersing yourself in the stunning scenery along the way. As you make your way to Soca Valley, you'll be captivated by the Julian Alps's beauty and the Soca River's emerald waters. It depends on where you are coming from, but the other option is to fly into Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia and then travel to Bovec.

Embrace the Outdoors

Once you arrive in Soca Valley, get ready to explore the great outdoors. Lace up your hiking boots and embark on a mountain trek with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. It's steep and rugged, so prepare for some punishment. Along the way, take in the fresh mountain air and marvel at the natural beauty surrounding you.

After your hike, take a leisurely stroll through one of the quaint villages that dot the valley. Stop in at a local brewery and sample some craft beer, immersing yourself in the warm hospitality of the Slovenian people.

Explore Rich History

No visit to Soca Valley is complete without a visit to one of its historic landmarks. Make your way to the fortress that overlooks the valley, where you can learn about the region's rich history and enjoy stunning vistas of the surrounding countryside.

Thrilling Adventures

For those seeking an adrenaline rush, Soca Valley has plenty to offer. Head to the local airstrip and experience the thrill of skydiving as you soar through the sky and take in bird' s-eye views of the valley below. If that's not enough excitement, sign up for a whitewater rafting excursion or go canyoning with a local adventure team. I did all three and can definitely recommend them.

Nature's Wonders

Soca Valley is home to some of Slovenia's most breathtaking natural wonders. Taking a day trip to nearby Lake Bled is worth it, where you can take your shot of the iconic island church to post to Instagram or take a boat ride on the crystal-clear waters. Back in Soca Valley, don't miss the opportunity to hike to one of the area's stunning waterfalls, where you can cool off with a refreshing swim in the turquoise pools below. Also makes for a great place to do a spot of yoga.
