Six Great Reasons To Travel To Tahiti

Once overseas travel opens up again one of the first places I am can not wait to explore is Tahiti. I am thinking a ten-day getaway sounds just right.

Tahiti is in the southern part of the Pacific Island. It is the largest island in French Polynesia. While there are no direct flights from Sydney, you can get there via Auckland or Los Angeles.

My research says the best time of the year to visit Tahiti is between May and October. Although the temperatures are balmy year-round, during winter you can enjoy less humidity.

So what’s the appeal? Why travel to Tahiti?

  • Staying In An Overwater Bungalow such as Le Bora Bora by Pearl Resorts -Overwater bungalows are my idea of luxury and treating myself. Stepping right from the deck to the water is a dream. I stayed in an overwater suite in the Maldives and it was incredible. I can’t wait to do it again.

  • Tours - such as the full day Bora Bora Cultural Lagoon Tour which includes 3 stops or Te Pari Tour which is a full-day tour

  • For The Crystal Clear Water - How incredible is the turquoise water, so clear you can see to the bottom of the ocean? I imagine it to be just breathtaking. I plan to visit Opunihu Bay and swim at La Plage de Maui beach and take a Tikehau Ocean Tour.

  • Variety Of Outdoor Activities - I love stand-up paddle boarding, provided its calm water, otherwise, you will find me out at sea. They have it in the Paea or Punaauia lagoon - where you can see coral reefs, stingrays, blacktip reef sharks.

I’m not a huge fan of ATVs but if I can be a passenger we will ride up to Belvedere Lookout for the incredible views.

It would be good to do a hike on at least one of the days. You can hike in the centre of the island or hike through the jungle and swim at the Fautaua Waterfall.

Hire a bicycle and have the freedom to cycle around, jetski, snorkel, sailing, or swim with the humpback whales. Tahiti is also a great place to just simply relax!

  • For The Food; Fresh Fish and Fruits - There is nothing better than fresh produce. They have a Moorea Food Adventures in Tapati which they say is good to do as a breakfast tour. I have been to Langkawi several times and their fish and fruits are incredible. I can’t wait to try it in Tahiti.

  • Spectacular Scenery - You have the beaches, mountains, lagoons, jungle, coral reefs - Who doesn’t love an early morning dip or a sunset swim. Apparently, you can visit Teahupoo Tahiti Surfari to watch the surfers early morning, and Papenoo Valley and the beach is meant to be a good one.

Doesn’t it all just sound amazing?! Would you believe me when I say my bag is already packed? Just waiting for the gates to open. Country #83 here I come.
