Make Up

Hey girlfriend, what is that all over your face?
What has happened to the human race?
Fake eyelashes, boobs out on show and tanned all up
Great expense to be something your not

Victoria Secret panties,
Hair dyed all colours, jewellery galore
You have the latest of everything
And are always wanting more

Just borrow from the bank
You must figure money is unlimited
With no forethought for the future
Or the life that you are living

 Endless takeaway
You need everything real quick
No savouring, saving or deserving
No appreciation, or cherishing what you got

You have no values,
Ego is all
Do you even know yourself?
Who are you trying to outdo?

Why cover up what you really are?
What are you scared of?
Take the snarl off your face
Life is not unfair

Where does this stem from?
What did you miss out on?
And how did you get lost?
And why so pushy and needy?

You won’t be buying a house anytime soon love
You won’t even have anything to teach your children
When will it click or sink in?
When are you going to let others in?

I would love to tell you
To stop all the nonsense
But there are so many others
Just like the homeless girl you are

Alcohol can help cover your pain
Loud cars put you on show
You are all words, no action
We call you ‘the shadow’

I can’t help but feel sorry
For all that you don’t know you are missing out on
It’s so sad but it’s true
Nobody can change it but you
