Art During The Holidays

Children are always looking for things to do during the holidays. Something to keep them busy and entertained.

Art is a great suggestion that ticks all boxes.

  • It keeps them occupied

  • It allows them to use their imagination and creativity

  • They can get messy

  • It could involve technology

  • It can be time-consuming

  • Usually easy to get materials

Below you will find a bunch of art spaces to suggest to your children;

  • Art Works - KinderArt has so many suggested art pieces. They have instructions and photos so you know exactly what it should look like. Covers so many different areas of the curriculum

  • How To Draw - Art Projects for Kids has plenty of fun and easy how to draw tutorials

  • Online Art Sessions - the Art Gallery of NSW offers classes online and plenty of tutorials in their Together In Art Initiative

  • Directed Drawing - subscribe to the Art For Kids Hub on YouTube. Follow the instructions as a dad leads his children through directed drawing and other art projects. Great fun to watch for all ages. One of the favourites that I use in the classroom

  • Kids Art, Craft and Activity ideas - Messy Little Monster on Facebook has a stack of ideas

  • Step By Step - check out the very popular Pete Cromer’s artwork and make your own dream bird

  • Lunch Doodles - Mo Willems author and illustrator of Don’t Let The Pigeon Drive The Bus! has created videos teaching children how to draw his popular characters from his stories
