Teacher Feedback For Online Learning
Online learning is no easy feat for teachers, students or their families. In Sydney we are entering our sixth week of learning from home and students are losing interest and motivation.
I am currently ‘teaching’ the students of essential workers that come to school and my frustration levels are high. It is evident that students are not reading the written instructions, not taking time to view the teachers’ instructional videos and simply turning in incomplete work or work not to their true potential. And that’s with me in the classroom, by their side, working with them and even explaining what to do and what is expected before they begin.
Students learning is going backwards, and it is clear we are going to have to start right back at basics when we re-enter the classroom.
As a teacher, how are you offering feedback and support to your students in regards to their work?
Do you use Zoom calls as a way to reach the masses?
Do you write a morning message congratulating particular students on a job well done?
Do you make phone calls home?
Do you use digital stickers?
Or perhaps Mote - a great Chrome extension that allows you to easily record your voice as oral feedback for your students?

Or to design your own; here’s a how-to video - How to make your own digital stickers. When making your own, make sure to save them as a .png with a transparent background. If you store them in Google Keep so can pluck them out anytime you need. Google Keep does not work within Google Classroom though so you may have to put them in a Google Slide to copy and paste.
