Using Decodable Texts With Beginning Readers

Decodable readers are those that are easy for the younger years and especially beginning readers as they include all words which can be easily decoded or sounded out, ensuring children have greater success with their reading.

They are usually simple texts which are carefully sequenced to progressively include words that are consistent with the letters and corresponding phonemes that have been taught to the new reader.

Many companies these days offer free printable downloads. They are a great resource to use as readers in class, send home as home readers as well great to be used in support programs.
