Cultural Shows Worth Seeing

I have seen my fair share of cultural shows while travelling the world. It’s a great way to learn and appreciate about the particular countrys’; background, traditions and culture. Also to get your arts fix. Though, do keep in mind, the shows can be a bit of a hit or miss, so I advise you to check out the reviews first.

Shows that I have seen include;

  • Tumen Ekh Ensemble – Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia – includes folk song, traditional music, dance and contortion. It is a great show, just very uncomfortable to sit on the floor for a long period of time

  • Bagore ki Haveli – Udaipur, India – it is a good show featuring dancers, but another one you must sit on floor to watch. Queue early to get the best seats for the show

  • Kostroma – Russian National Dance Show, Moscow, Russia – amazing talent. This is a must.

  • Thang Long Water Puppet Show – Hanoi, Vietnam – take it or leave it. There is an interval which could be a good time to sneak away.

  • Robot Restaurant Show – Tokyo, Japan – not worth the money. Very tired show. We were not fans but others raved about it. We ordered the dinner package so you eat while you watch. The seating is very swishy. Not great for larger body people

  • Over Water Show and Dinner on Island Night – Rarotonga, Cook Islands

  • Maori Cultural Shows – New Zealand – see the Huka being performed. Great to feel the passion and feel the energy in the room change. Be invited up on stage to participate if you like

  • Kecak Performances at The Agung Rai Museum and Resort – Ubud, Bali, Indonesia – opens stage showcasing Balinese performances

  • Folklore Nights – Limestone Heritage Parks and Garden, Malta –Enjoy dinner while you watch the show. The outdoor setting at this incredible and old building, amongst the gardens is fantastic.

It can be a good idea when travelling to check out the traditional music and dance concerts. Have you seen any great shows worth writing home about? We would love it if you joined the conversation and left a comment below.
