February 2022 In Hindsight

February is when reality sets in for the new year. Holidays are over and it’s back to school. Back to squeezing life in between work. It has been a different start at school than I expected. I have been asked to replace teachers who are taking longer periods of leave so for the first two weeks I had a Year One class, then the last two weeks I have had a Year Four class and next week I will take a Year Three class for two weeks. I have enjoyed it however getting my head around programs, assessments, meetings, timetables and testing takes its toll. It has been good to get out and about of a weekend to treat myself for all the effort I give during the week.

What's new -

* Home improvements - not so much on the home front this month - we had a council cleanup and got rid of a few more things including our broken-down fridge. My boyfriend installed a toilet paper holder in the ensuite and filled a gap between the fireplace in the front room. He finished the outside upstairs verandah which stopped the water leak coming into the kitchen downstairs. We got a quote and ordered four new windows for the house to replace the original wooden ones. Hopefully will go in during March.

* Smashed out a bunch of five-minute jobs - washed the fireplace door, vacuumed and dusted the stairs, scrubbed the bath, hedged next doors hedge that comes over our fence, and moved the jasmine plant to down the back

* Went shopping for the first time ever with my boyfriend. He has not bought anything new in the last three-plus years I have been with him. It is either myself or my mum who gets his clothes. However, we had a successful shopping trip where he bought jeans, a button-up shirt, dress pants for the races and white shoes for Diner en Blanc we are going to in March. The only thing we didn’t get was white pants as he had run out of steam by then so I will have to find a pair online

* We have had so much rain over the last two weeks. Just about every day I think and more is predicted for another week or more. Fortunately, we are safe where we live, yet parts of NSW and Queensland are not so lucky
