June 2023 In Hindsight
Looking back in hindsight at the past month, I learnt you can not do it all. I gave it a good shot at appearing to make it look like I had my shit together, but ended up burnt out, stressed out and reaching out for help. Life was all abit too much and so the count down to holidays begun. Thank god for ten week terms and long weekend public holidays. Life was all consuming and even getting this monthy post out on time was a struggle.
Listening to -
* Believe In Magic Podcast - such an addictive podcast around a mum with Munchausen syndrome. I binge-listened to it within a couple of days. Can highly recommend it.
Read -
* Work Harder, Not Smarter by Jack Collis - one for the business side of life. Needed a couple of reminders from the book. Funny how the timing of things works out.
* The Paris Affair by Pip Drysdale - I like Pip as an author and have read a couple of hers now. Easy to relate to books.
* Different Not Less by Chloe Hayden - good look into autism from an adult’s perspective.
* The Hope Dealer by Caitlin Cady - I won this one through Better Reads this month. It feels like this book was written for me! Such powerful daily messages.
Splurged on -
* a few tops through The Iconic
Watching -
* Rachel’s Farm - watched the pre-release, a really good one on sustainable farming. Makes you want to move to a farm
Went to -
* The Log Cabin at Penrith - gave it a second chance. Still not much chop. Won’t be rushing back there.
* had a City Cave sauna - my last prepaid one
* Sydney for Vivid and watched the lights from Holiday Inn, Potts Point. My bff had a hotel room for the night with amazing views of the city. Peaceful, relaxing and chill vibes.
* Taralga for the weekend with my bf. Had dinner and breakfast at The Argle Inn. The place to be in Taralga. So nice, and sophisticated without being pretentious.
Booked -
* in to visit family and friends during the holidays. A time when I get to see everyone.
Cooked -
* gf salted caramel chocolate brownies
* slow cooker meals - great for Winter time and best when you don’t have much time
What's new -
* house reno - long weekend meant cleaning up outside, chopping wood and tidying up the wood pile, got rid of old metal that was sitting around. Booked in a chemical clean-out and got rid of six old tubs of paint. Booked another one for next month to get rid of another five. Had one of my bfs builder mates come out to help look at the house and assist with project managing it.
* blog - not much time dedicated to my blog this month, but did manage to put up a travel feature, which was cool. Hoping to spend a bit of time on my blog during the holidays.
* went to my niece’s communion which is a special occasion in the Catholic religion
* had two weekends of Bushfire Training within the one month which added to the chaotic life I led. Big days of training. Whilst it was interesting and I learned alot and met some lovely people it was very time-consuming.
* my bf has been lighting the open fire in the front room so we moved the two single recliners in there and it has been a great space to hang of a night now.
Looking for -
* bed head - just a low one as our bed is in front of the window and I don’t want to it show in the window. Thinking of a linen one.
Sold -
* chandelier I have had for the past three years but never installed so its gone, now to find a nice pendant for the front room
Started -
* getting into true crime podcasts
Attempting to -
* get my steps up
