Calling Out Others Bullshit
I have a pretty good inbuilt shit detector.
Through many years of personal experience, I can easily see through people.
As children, my parents made a conscious decision to surround us with people of good values and morals. We had many examples in family and friends of nice, honest, kind, hard-working people.
As I grew older and began to make my own way through the world it stood out like a sore thumb that not everyone was good at heart.
It is very obvious to me when people are not their true selves but instead speaking and acting from their ego.
I guess you could call it a talent, a gift or maybe sadly due to life experience I have had to be on my game.
I am done with dealing with manipulation and letting others have the power.
That’s not going to fly anymore.
Are you in a space where you are ready to call others out on their bullshit?
How to tell if someone is telling you something that is far from the truth…
they will get easily annoyed and almost enraged if you ask them a simple question
they won’t be able to look at you - eye contact is a very obvious one
they will call you crazy
they will make a sudden change in their story or contradict themselves
they rush in when they get home and then rush out again so fast, barely saying hi and bye, so you have no time to ask them anything or have a conversation
listen to your gut instinct, your intuition - you will know
when you clarify something it will irritate them
they will dominate and steer the direction of conversations
they will deny things or make excuses
they may overcomplicate an answer; either giving a really long-winded reply with way too much detail or use unknown vocabulary to confuse you
their body language is a big red flag - are they covering their mouth as they speak or playing with their ear? Notice which way their legs/feet are facing - is it towards you or away?
the conversation makes you feel uncomfortable or exhausted
How To Call Out Others On Their Bullshit…
ensure you are in a safe place
using humour is an option
protect yourself first. If you feel you will need someone else present, ensure you do
call bullshit when you hear it - it’s better to deal with it immediately there and then then have to revisit and bring it up later - their recall of the conversation will be conveniently vague
don’t feel bad about calling them out - it’s on them, not you
speak respectively and correct their mistake not them
In the past I have let people think I believe their lies. I am not good at awkward conversations or confronting people but now I know it is too my advantage to call them out. The feeling of questioning them is much better than the feeling of knowing they have one over me. There is nothing worse in my books than manipulation.
Don’t be someone that falls for others crap.
How is your bullshit radar? I hope the above tricks help you to not let others pull the wool over your eyes but instead empower you with the red flags and to stand up and put others in their place.
How is your bullshit detector? Are you good at reading people? When was the last time someone tried to bullshit you? We would love it if you joined the conversation and left a comment below.
